The Google search campaign that went from a 3.6% to a 12.8% conversion rate.
A one location roofing company with a crew of 6 to 8, almost all its work from referrals. Google search ads and Local Services Ads ran across eight central PA counties. Halfway through, the landing page was cut down and the copy changed to highlight what his best customers actually chose him for. Same campaign, same keywords, before and after.
Before the page rebuild

The keywords were identical in both periods. The landing page and its headline changed on the same day, so there is no way to say which one deserves the credit. The new page was shorter, mobile friendly, and highlighted the transparent, fully itemized estimate process.

What did not go well
The main run was about 52 days. On December 22 the owner paused the search ads because he could not fund the ad budget. After a restart, search brought in 1 qualified lead in about three weeks, he paused again, and the project ended. The Local Services Ads kept running at a lower budget.
